Lake Aeroflex Kayak and Canoe Trip
Location: Located in Kittatinny Valley State Park, at 199 Goodale Road, Newton, NJ; next to the Aeroflex-Andover Airport. It is west of Lake Mohawk and east of the Whittingham Wildlife Management Area.

Directions: Route 80 West to Route 206 North to Route 669 (Limecrest Road).
Meeting Location: Lake Aeroflex Boat Ramp / Parking Lot Located on Lake Aeroflex Road (Off of Limecrest Road)
Meeting Up Time: 8:00 AM sharp at boat launch / ramp on Lake Aeroflex Road.
General Info & Description: Lake Aeroflex was formally known as New Waywayanda. It is a 119 acre lake and is classified as a “holdover trout lake”. Lake Aeroflex and Gardner’s Lake form part of the headwaters of the Pequest River. Aeroflex is available to fish 24 hours a day and there is no park entrance fee or ramp fee.
NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife stocks Aeroflex with brown trout, rainbow trout, and landlocked salmon. Landlocked salmon were introduced in 2006. In 2018, Runelvy Rodriguez caught the state record landlocked salmon at Aeroflex that was 8 lbs. 5 oz, which was 25 ¾” long and had a 15” girth. Other species include largemouth bass, pickerel, and sunfish.
Fishing access is available by shoreline or boat. There is a boat launch ramp. A floating dock provides additional ADA accessibility. Gas motors are not permitted, but electric motors are permitted.
Quarry: Trout, Landlocked Salmon, Largemouth Bass, Pickerel, Sunfish.
Body of Water Access: Kayaks, canoes, rowboats, stand up paddle boards and other small boats are recommended. Gasoline motors are not permitted. Wading and fishing from shore is very limited and not recommended.

Degree of Difficulty: Sunfish angling is not challenging. Other species will likely be more difficult.
Suggested Equipment: Fly rod size / weight depends on your anticipated style of fly fishing. A 5-6 weight rod with a floating line should cast floating bass bugs and flies without much trouble in the shallows. A sinking fly line is recommended if you intend to troll deeper sections of the lake with streamers.

Recommended Fly Patterns: Bass bugs / top water poppers in various sizes. Wooly Bugger, Muddlers, Clouser Minnows and other streamers.

Miscellaneous Information:
- Please be advised that weather conditions affect not only fishing quality but water quality as well. If projected weather conditions deteriorate prior to the trip the trip coordinator may send out an email cancelling the trip. Please check your email.
- Insects such as mosquitoes and ticks can be problematic in the area we will be visiting. Strong insect repellent may be necessary.
- Boaters are typically exposed to large amounts of sun. It is highly recommended to bring sunblock, sunglasses, a hat and an ample supply of cold drinking water.
- NJ Boating Rules & Regulations pertain to Lake Aeroflex at all times. Each person must have on a wearable Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Swimming from boats is prohibited.
- Raingear is also recommended.
- Milfoil and other aquatic invasive species have been documented in Lake Aeroflex. Please inspect / disinfect your boat and gear prior to fishing in another body of water.
- Please practice catch and release.
